Stocking 2016

On Friday, September 23rd, The Milwaukee Chapter of Muskies Inc. once-again teamed up with The Muskellunge Club of Wisconsin to stock 150 fish each in both Pewaukee Lake and Lac LaBelle. In addition, MCMI also stocked 175 muskies in the Fox River in Racine County (Bridge Road), and 142 muskies in the Fox River in Kenosha County (CTH JB). The Racine and Kenosha stockings were funded via matching CCA (County Conservation Aid) Grants. A special thanks goes out to Dave Dawson for doing all the legwork when it came to applying for these grants.

Meeting February 23rd Steve Herbeck

When the discussion of top musky anglers comes into discussion Steve’s name invariably enters into the mix and the terms “legendary” and “innovator” are often brought up. He was recently mentioned in a vote by a panel of his peers as one of the top ten musky anglers of all time. With over 28 years of experience guiding and instructing from northern WI’s Vilas County–starting 28 years ago–to the Canadian Shield waters of the famed Eagle Lake for the past 22 years, Steve brings a wealth of new knowledge, patterns, and presentations.”This seminar won’t be an advertisement or entertainment but the real meat-and-potatoes overview of overlooked and sometimes contrary-to-many-popular-belief patterns and thoughts.  It will also give a preview of some new and exciting big fish patterns that have been developing more recently and emerging by the ever changing environment and ecosystem–especially on the Canadian Shield water of NW Ontario.”  1994 to date Steve and his clients have boated 43 muskies 40# – 50#+ on Eagle Lake ON and in the prior 6 years guiding in WI’s Vilas Co. 2 times guided clients to the largest musky boated in the state for the yr. with a 55 1/2″ 43# 6 oz. in 1987 and 53″ 47# 10 oz. in 1992. Steve brings to the stage knowledge and passion that is unique and contagious.  So come out and see Steve Herbeck present “Techniques to Landing Big Muskies”.  This is one you won’t want to miss!!  You can find us at  The Machine Shed – 7pm

Milwaukee Muskie Expo Recap

MCMI had a great time at the Milwaukee Muskie Expo from Friday, February 12th to Sunday, February 14th.  We were given a generous donation from Team Rhino Outdoors and DK Lures to raffle off a DK Glitter Walleye, as well as donate 10% of their show sales to us. In the end, Team Rhino Outdoors was responsible for the club making over $700 at the expo, and that money will go towards stocking. We can’t thank them enough for their generosity to our club. And, to top it off, they are a great group of guys, and always a pleasure to deal with.  I know more than one chapter member who dropped some coin in their booth this past weekend.
A “Big Thank You” goes out to Brian Mirek for chairing the MCMI Muskie Expo Booth and to the rest of the volunteers that assisted: Mike Phelps, Steve Berg, Bob Petzke (and wife), James Kwapil, Andy Rosenau, Matt Saric, Dave Kegler, Craig Ader, and Greg Sieren

Ice Fisheree Recap

The MCMI ice Fisheree has returned.  It was held on Sunday Jan 31, 2016 at Curly’s Waterfront Bar on Pewaukee Lake and was a great success. Turnout was high and fun was had by all. There was a main raffle drawing held at the end of fisheree which featured 5 guided fishing trips and over $2500.00 in total prizes awarded.

Additionally, cash prizes we’re awarded in 4 fish categories as follows.

  1. Pike  –  30.5in.  –  Mike Koepp
  2. Bass  –  18.5in.  –  Mike Marinkovich
  3. Perch  –  13 in.  –  Dana Dement
  4. Panfish / Crappie  –  10 in.  –  Mike Kaatz

The money raised will help MCMI fund programs like MCMI Musky Stocking Program, Veteran’s Fishing Outing, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Fishing Outing.

These programs are not possible without the continued support of our sponsors, members and non member contributions. Going forward, we are already looking forward to next years event, which we anticipate being bigger and better.  Our goal next year will be to encourage all of our membership to help support the MCMI Ice Fisheree in any of the following ways – helping sell tickets, buy tickets, help in securing prize donations, or by volunteering your time.

With everyone’s help, this event can be an integral resource in helping support the financial health of our club as well as the club sponsored programs that we all enjoy through MCMI.

Thanks to all of those who helped make this event a success with special mention to Craig Ader, Nancy Hinkforth, Bob Petzke & Brian Mirek. And, last but not least by any means, the Curly’s Waterfront Bar Staff.
