Our February 20th General Meeting saw competition from Mother Nature as the weather turned for the worst and our guest speakers had to cancel last minute. Geoff Verges filled in and gave an excellent presentation on the Upper and Lower Buckatabon Lakes and supplied bonus information on the Eagle River between Yellow Birch Lake and Watersmeet Lake. Geoff grew up on the Buckatabon Lakes and put himself through college guiding during the summers. Geoff gave up more than a few good locations in the area, and had great stories to entertain us. After Geoff’s presentation, Craig Ader spoke briefly about fishing Lake Winnebago and specific locations.
Our first general meeting at the American Legion Post #449 was held on January 16th. Spencer Berman who runs Spencer’s Angling Adventures (http://spencersanglingadv.com/ ) was our guest speaker. Spencer’s presentation “How to Pattern Monster Muskies” shared his theories and experiences on smart and dumb muskies, feeding and sitting muskies. A big “Thank You” goes out to Spencer for donating some lures to our chapter for the general raffle.
For those of you who did not make it out to the American Legion Post #449 for a meeting, we now have food available for purchase to consume before and during the meetings, along with several choice beverages available for purchase. Food being served at our meeting site was a welcome addition and was very well received by those who did attend.
At the October 22nd meeting, Craig Ader announced that tickets are now available for the spring 2014 Fund Raiser 50/50 Raffle. The cost will be $5 each or 5 for $20. The winner will be drawn at the Pewaukee Classic on May 10th 2014. Tickets will be sold at the General Meetings, Milwaukee Muskie Expo, and the day of the Pewaukee Classic.
Chapter member Geoff Verges gave a presentation on Sucker Fishing. Geoff, with the gracious permission of fellow chapter member and local guide Mike Koepp who run’s Mike’s Extreme Guide Service (www.mikekoepp.com), shared the “Koepp Rig” with the group. Geoff discussed some of the techniques that are employed on Pewaukee and area lakes when the “meat of the season” is on the menu for Muskies.
The Chapter’s September 24’s meeting had guest speaker Kevin Moore who runs Muskies, etc Guide Service (www.muskiesetc.com). Kevin had a great presentation on some the live bait techniques he uses. He also spoke on year round presentations he employs on Pewaukee and most in particular Okauchee and Oconomowoc Lakes. Kevin had some great insight and some lively stories. Kevin has been fishing Okauchee Lake since the early 80s.
