2019 Quad County Challenge

The 33rd annual Milwaukee Chapter vs. Quad-County Chapter challenge will be held on  Saturday, May 4th (7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and Sunday, May 5th (7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) on Pewaukee Lake. This is a friendly event to kick off the season, see our friends from Illinois, and compete for bragging rights and the traveling trophy for the year. The honor system is used to “register” fish and the Muskies, Inc. point system is used for length.

As with past challenges, participants will simply launch their boat where ever it is their convenience. You may start fishing before 7:00, but you cannot count fish caught unless it is after the 7:00 start. We usually eat lunch at Curly’s Waterfront at noon to get updated on how everyone is doing. At about 5:30 on Saturday, we will have a catered meal to all participants at Nettesheim Park. At noon Sunday we have the traveling trophy presentation at Curly’s Waterfront.

If you’re interested in participating, Contact Bob Petzke at 262-442-6260.  There is a $10 fee to help cover food costs for Saturday evening.

April 23rd Meeting – Bait Swap & Meat Raffle

Dave Olson was unable to fulfill his speaking commitment with us, so we will be hosting a bait swap and meat raffles instead of having a speaker for our April meeting.

It is with great excitement that we share our April meeting topic with you all.  It is…..BAIT SWAP!!!  You heard it correctly!  BAIT SWAP!  Tuesday, April 23rd, 7pm – 9pm.

This event is open for everyone to attend, but the selling of baits/gear is limited to Muskies Inc. members.  Please let Geoff Verges know, via email as space is limited, if you would like to reserve a table. You can reach him at vegas492@yahoo.com.  Get your emails in early so you can be sure to reserve yourself a table! We’ll do everything we can to accommodate as many as contact us.

Along with the bait swap, we will also be holding meat raffles.  There will be some really nice cuts of meat that we will raffle off every 30 minutes.

Again, this event is open to everyone to attend, but we ask that exhibitors be Muskies Inc. members.

canceled — 2018 MCMI Panfish Tournament

Due to a number of circumstances, we are canceling the Panfish Tournament that was scheduled for 4/28 this year. We may revisit this idea sometime in the future, but this years event had to be canceled.

Milwaukee Chapter of Muskies INC is pleased to announce their first annual MCMI Panfish Tournament.  Think of this an Ice Fisheree with out the ice!!  The goal is a fun day on the water with family and friends with a friendly competition to see who can catch the longest fish of each species and heaviest bag limit.  This tournament will also help curb the panfish overpopulation that is occurring on Pewaukee.  It also coincides with Smokey’s Mistake on the Lake, so grab your new lures for musky season before/after fishing the tournament.  It’s the perfect time to made sure your boat is running and mark up those new weed lines on you GPS!!

2018 Guide Raffle

This fundraiser generated a lot of interest last year, and we’ve decided to run it again this year. All proceeds go towards stocking our local lakes.

Tickets will once again be $5 each or 3 for $10. Tickets will be available at the expos, bait swap, meetings, and at the drawing.

Drawing date will be Saturday, April 28th at Curly’s Waterfront (following the Panfish Tournament). Need not be present to win.

2014 Big Brothers Big Sisters Youth Outing

From Geoff Verges on June 14th:

Milwaukee Muskies Inc and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee co-hosted a youth fishing event on Saturday with the help of both of Smokey’s tackle shops.

20 Littles with well over 20 Bigs showed up to catch some panfish with their captains from Milwaukee Muskies Inc.

Attached are a few pictures of the catch.

Many, many special thanks go out to the men from Muskies Inc who devoted part of their busy weekend to fishing with the kids: Bryan Blanke, Roy Hinkforth, Mark Miller and Greg Sieren. These were the men who made the magic happen for the kids, along with their helpers who tagged along as first mates.

More thanks goes out to each and every volunteer who showed up from Big Brothers and Big Sisters to assist with check in and help provide lunch for the kids.

On the Muskies Inc side, both Jennifer Verges and Nancy Hinkforth helped with facilitating the event and assisting with the lunch afterwards.

Kids ended up fishing from the Smokey’s pontoon boats from about 10:00 to 12:00. And while we heard that the ‘toons caught 40-70 gills apiece (along with some bass), some of the youngsters couldn’t get enough and also fished off of Smokey’s piers to get more bluegills. There were even rumors of a 10 inch gill.

Anyway, it was a blast for everyone involved. Another thank you goes out to Smokey’s Muskie Shop for not only hosting this event, but also for their Veterans Outing that was running at the same time.
